Astportshire, officially the Land of Astportshire (Brethish: Lan of Astportscyr), is the oldest Shire within the Bretherlands, it contained Astport up until the Shire Reform Act which separated the capital of the nation into its own Shire. It was originally explored by George Beckingham, an agent of the middle brother of the founders. It resides within the south eastern part of the Kitthelond region and borders the Greater Shire of Astport and Furdfoorthshire to the north, Astport Bay to the south east and Gatefieldshire to the west. The main settlement of Astportshire is Astfield and has a population of 4,500, the rural population numbers 3,700 and is spread out in small hamlets.
The economy of Astportshire is based largely on agriculture, with farmers planting a variety of crops such as coffee, corn, sugar cane and tobacco. These crops are both sold within the country and exported. The shire is also home to a coffee company which processes coffee and operates coffee houses across the nation. A tradition of farming coffee has lead to coffee becoming symbolic of Astportshire gaining it the nickname of the 'Brown Bean Shire'.
